Rear View, Organ
2009. Rear view of the organ, the bellows of which were pumped by turning a large handle, organ-grinder style. When pumped, the bellows produced a vacuum which sucked air through the reeds in the chairs. Each chair is connected by more than 20 feet of clear vinyl tubing, allowing great flexibility for chair configuration.

"Feet"
Front detail of the organ. The carved "feet," modeled after Peter's, appear to pump the original pedals as the handle is turned. They were carved from a piece of pine once used as a swell shutter in the original echo organ (now replaced) at Westminster Presbyterian Church.

Musical Chairs Consort Performing
During the first performance, Peter realized that Musical Chairs might better be played by dancers, since musicians can read music, but often find choreography (that is, sitting on the correct chair at the correct time) a challenge.
